Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
Where can I get a copy of a police report?
A: We are located in the City Complex at 4900 River Oaks Blvd., River Oaks, Texas 76114-3037
Q:
What are your hours?
A: We are open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Contact: Linda Claridge
Q:
How much does it cost to get a copy of an offense,
accident or arrest report?
A: We charge $4 for each copy of an offense, incident or arrest report and $6 for each copy of an accident report. The fee charged for accident reports is set by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Q: I need to be fingerprinted for my job. Can you do this? A: We charge $5 for each fingerprint card, and you (or your employer) must furnish the cards. As an example, if you need two (2) fingerprint cards for your job, you must bring in two blank cards and the cost would be $10.
Q: What type of report(s) can I get a copy of? A: Under the Texas Open Records Act, anyone may obtain a copy of any police report. You must fill out an Open Records Request Form and return it to the police department records bureau, either in person or by mail. If you submit your request by mail, the applicable fee must be included (company check or money orders only; Personal Checks are not accepted), along with a #10 stamped self-addressed envelope. State law allows us ten (10) business days to fulfill the request or to notify you why we could not.
Q:
Can I find out if I'm wanted?
A: The best way to obtain this information is to contact the Municipal Court directly at 817-626-1597 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. If you call the Police Communications Center (817-626-1991) during any other hours, we will check our city warrant files and tell you if you have any outstanding traffic warrants with us. We cannot tell you if you have outstanding warrants with any other agency. If you come to the police department in person, we are required to notify an officer, and you may be arrested.
Q: How can I find out more about my case? A: The detective handling your case is the best source of information. Call the Criminal Investigations Division at 817-626-1991 and let them know you would like to speak to the Detective handling your case. If you have the offense or case number, let them know because it's easier to look up your case with the number.
